Introduction
SkillsCred Private Limited ("SkillsCredX", "we", "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the SkillsCredX platform, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights available to you.
This policy should be read together with our Terms of Service and User Agreement. It is designed to align with applicable data protection laws, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account and profile details such as your name, email address, phone number, institution, field of study, skills and photo;
- Content you create — posts, portfolios, messages, applications and responses to assessments;
- Payment information when you purchase a paid service (processed by our payment partners; we do not store full card details).
Information we collect automatically
- Device and usage data such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed and actions taken;
- Cookies and similar technologies used to keep you signed in, remember preferences and understand how the Platform is used;
- For proctored assessments, and only with your consent, session data such as webcam, screen and activity signals as described in our User Agreement.
Information from third parties
We may receive information from your institution, from partners who deliver courses, or from services you use to sign in, where you have authorised this.
How we use your information
We use personal data to operate and improve the Platform and to provide the features you expect from a student success network. Specifically, we use it to:
- Create and manage your account and profile;
- Deliver courses, assessments, credentials, networking and placement features;
- Personalise content, recommendations and guidance;
- Verify identity and maintain the integrity of assessments and credentials;
- Communicate with you about updates, security and support;
- Keep the Platform safe, detect misuse and comply with legal obligations;
- Understand usage through analytics so we can improve the service.
Legal bases for processing
Depending on the context and applicable law, we process personal data on the basis of your consent, the performance of our agreement with you, our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Platform, and compliance with legal obligations. Where we rely on consent — for example, for certain proctoring or marketing activities — you may withdraw it at any time.
Data retention
We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Platform, and thereafter only as long as necessary for legitimate business or legal purposes — for example, to maintain the verifiability of credentials you have earned, to resolve disputes, or to meet record-keeping obligations. When data is no longer needed we delete or anonymise it.
How we protect your data
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, access controls and monitoring. Our approach is described in more detail on our Security page. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights and choices
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, update or delete your personal data, to withdraw consent, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to request a copy of your data in a portable form. You can manage much of your information directly in your account settings, or contact us to exercise these rights.
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may also nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity, and you may lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India.
Student and children's data
The Platform serves higher-education students and professionals. Where we knowingly process the data of a person who is a child under applicable law, we do so with the consent of a parent or guardian and in accordance with legal requirements, and we do not use such data for behavioural monitoring or targeted advertising.
International transfers
We are based in India and may process and store data there and, where necessary, with service providers in other countries. Where personal data is transferred across borders, we take steps to ensure it remains protected in line with this policy and applicable law.

In accordance with applicable Indian law, you may contact our Grievance Officer regarding this policy or the processing of your personal data. We will acknowledge and address complaints within the timelines required by law.
